EARLY INTERVENTION AND PRESCHOOL SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
ACDS’ Early Intervention and Preschool Programs are designed to meet the needs of children with a diversity of developmental and learning challenges including Down syndrome and other genetic conditions, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, speech and communication delays, neuromuscular disorders, sensory processing dysfunction, and visual and auditory impairments. Programs are individualized to meet the specific needs of the child and allow for continuity of educational/therapeutic service provision from Early Intervention through preschool.
Our center-based early intervention and preschool program is located in an educational center which also includes a state of the art, newly designed Powerplay clinical wing, where occupational, physical and speech therapy services are delivered.
If you would tour ACDS on any given day you would see children eagerly involved in activities focusing on all developmental domains. Our enriched learning environment provides instruction that is diverse, individualized and aligned with each child’s needs, unique learning styles and competencies. Activities are designed to enhance children’s learning, focusing on ability and not disability.
ACDS is truly a collaborative learning community; teachers, therapists and families working together to promote learning, social and emotional growth and a positive sense of competency. The educational and therapeutic staff is highly trained in designing developmentally appropriate interventions with young children and does so with nurturance, encouragement and positive support.
